These terms cover your use of the wpShadow plugin and this website, run by Christopher Ross, operating as wpShadow. By installing or using the plugin you agree to them. The plugin itself is free software under the GNU General Public License, version 2 or later. The checks it runs are provided by Shadow Steward, whose terms also apply to them.
What the checks are
The checks give you information and suggestions about your website. They are a starting point, not a guarantee. AI-written text can be wrong or miss things, so read it before you use it. For example, check that suggested alt text really describes your picture. wpShadow never changes your site on its own. The only change it makes is one you ask for, such as saving alt text on an image.
Your own website
- Use the free checks only on a website you own or manage. The plugin proves this by asking your site for a one-time code.
- Only choose pictures you have the right to use for the image check.
Fair use
The free checks are limited so everyone can use them (30 a day per site, 10 an hour per check). A site that has only just connected starts with 5 a day for its first two days. We may change these limits, ask newly connected sites to wait when the service is very busy, or pause a connection that keeps sending refused requests, to protect the quality of the service for everyone. Do not try to get around those limits, overload the service, or use it to build a competing service.
Paid checks
The paid checks use credits from your Shadow Steward account, at the prices shown in the plugin. Credits and refunds are covered by the Shadow Steward terms.
No warranty and limits of liability
The plugin and the checks are provided as they are and as they are available. To the fullest extent the law allows, wpShadow is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost profit, data or goodwill, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us, which for the free checks is nothing. This does not limit rights the law says cannot be limited.
Changes and law
We may change the plugin, the checks or these terms. These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
